Registration is now open for the next OCF local bouldering competition, which will be held on Saturday December 13th at True North Climbing. Full details about the competition are available at: https://my.climbontario.ca/dates.php?id=28. Please read all this information carefully; there is a lot there and it is all important! The registration link is https://my.climbontario.ca/register.php?comp=28; this requires that you sign in to your my.climbontario.ca account.
As this is an onsight/isolation format event, registration will close at 10pm on Wednesday, December 10th. No registrations will be accepted after this deadline. No athletes will be allowed to register on the day of the competition, or compete without having registered by the deadline. The advance registration is necessary in order to confirm how many competitors are in each category before setting begins. This allows us to arrange the order of climbers and distribution of problems through the gym to minimize both route setter work and wait time for climbers and their families.
The final schedule and running order will be posted on Friday, December 12th.
Coaches: Please help make sure everyone on your team fully understands all the rules and procedures involved, especially those new to competition climbing and/or the onsight/isolation format. There is a lot of stuff to know, and it is a challenge to make sure everyone knows what they need to know. Our Series Rules are posted at https://archive.climbontario.ca/u20-series-rules/. Your help is important, and appreciated! Any OCF board member is always happy to answer any question.
Coaches and Parents: Please remember that all competitors are considered to be in Isolation from the time they enter the Isolation Zone to the time they complete their last climb, including when they are sitting between climbs. No communication of any kind is permitted with a competitor during this time, and no information may be called out while a climber is on the wall. Cheering (for all competitors) is encouraged!
Volunteers are needed!
Many volunteers are needed to help this event run smoothly, including trained judges, runners (to help competitors move from problem to problem) and Isolation Zone monitors.
- A judging clinic will be held Friday December 12th at 7pm at True North Climbing. Anyone is welcome to attend, to learn to judge, refresh your judging skills, or even just to learn more about the rules. Dinner will be provided for all who attend. Please email judging@truenorthclimbing.com before Wednesday, December 10th if you plan to attend the judging clinic.
- No previous experience is required for runners and Isolation Zone monitors. These are good roles for high school kids looking for volunteer hours!
Please email volunteers@climbontario.ca now if you are available to help out. We have grown our pool of volunteers substantially since last season, but with the huge growth in youth climbing this year we are still struggling to keep up!
