The OCF previously announced its policy for choosing which athletes earn an invitation to the National Championships:
Based on the experience of the Bouldering National Championships, we have refined the process for Difficulty Nationals, to save time and eliminate several rounds of inviting athletes, chasing them down for their answer, and then inviting alternates when an invitation is declined. There is little time between OCF Difficulty Provincials/Ontario’s CEC National Open Difficulty Event and CEC Difficulty Nationals, and we want to give athletes and their families as much time as possible to make their travel plans.
All athletes who wish to attend CEC Dificulty Nationals must declare that intent in advance, by registering at https://my.climbontario.ca/register.php. Click on the National tab and follow the instructions there. This applies both for Youth and Open athletes. Athletes must declare their intent before the conclusion of OCF Difficulty Provincials on April 26th.
The OCF will then extend invitations following our stated policy, only to those who have registered their intent to attend. The athletes will be required to provide payment (an invoice will be sent via PayPal) and fulfill any other requests required to complete their registration by the deadline stated in the invite. Failure to comply will result in having the invitation withdrawn.
