Climbing Escalade Canada appoints High Performance Director
Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeff Thomson as it’s High Performance Director. Jeff brings a wealth of experience in High Performance programming through his many years at Gymnastics Canada.
While Jeff was the National Program Director for Gymnastics Canada the Men’s National Team achieved its best ever team results. Jeff has a long resume of being an important contributor in building Gymnastics Canada, and we believe he will be an important driver in the ongoing development of the CEC.
Jeff has a history of building strong relationships with coaches, athletes, clubs and provincial sports organizations. Additionally, he brings critical insight and understanding of the key stakeholder organizations in the Canadian high performance sport system, like Sport Canada, Canadian Olympic Committee and Own The Podium. As a new Olympic Sport, forging strong relationships and working collaboratively with these organizations is critical to the ongoing development of the CEC in which Jeff will play an integral role.
We are excited and look forward to working with Jeff and the team he builds, and will communicate our progress with you as we move forward.
We wanted to share an excerpt from Jeff’s cover letter to the CEC when applying for the role of High Performance Director.
“I believe that Canada can become a consistent producer of World-class competitors. The current result of the athletes such as Sean McColl and Alana Yip demonstrate that we have the expertise and facilities to create champions, now we need to develop the capacity, at all levels, to do so on a predicable, consistent basis”
We couldn’t agree more.
