OCF SPEED COMPETITION!

The OCF Speed Comp is next weekend! 

We’re looking forward to our first speed comp of the season. Don’t forget, you must compete in the local if you want to attend Speed Provincials.

Rules and Format:

Youth D & C athletes will climb a modified route (the CEC Official Youth C/D Speed Route, see page 13 of CEC rules

A and Junior athletes will compete in a single Qualification Round, and these results will be used to rank A and Junior athletes in both their youth and open categories. If they qualify for the final round(s), A and Junior athletes will compete in separate finals for each of their youth category and the Open category.  

Provisional schedule: 

The final schedule will be posted on Wednesday, February 19th, after registration closes.  

Here is the provisional schedule: 

9:00am – Gym doors open 
10:00am – Youth D & C Round begins 
1:00pm – Youth B/A/Jr/Open round begins 
Results & Awards to follow each round 

The provisional schedule is subject to change (depends on # athletes registered), however the Youth D/C round will definitely run first. 

Waivers and Gym Host Requirements: 

Gym Waivers: Everyone (athletes, coaches, and spectators) must sign a waiver. Please complete your waiver in advance of the comp to reduce delays on the day of the competition. 

Facility Orientation: Competitors are also required to complete a facility orientation. This can be done online in conjunction with your waiver. 

Bouldering Orientation (“Fall Assessment”): All competitors must receive an in-person Hub Climbing bouldering orientation before they can compete. Competitors 18 and older can opt out of the orientation as part of the facility orientation.  

If you have not yet completed a bouldering orientation and are under the age of majority, we encourage you to visit the gym and complete the orientation before the comp date so that you don’t need to worry about this the morning of the event. 

Identification: Everyone over the age of majority (18 or older) must show identification to Hub Climbing staff when you arrive. This includes athletes, coaches and spectators. Those under 18 are not required to show ID.
